LEG Immobilien SE: Practical and financial support for refugees from Ukraine in coordination with local authorities

  • LEG to contact cities with a large number of LEG apartments

  • LEG Coordination Center for Refugee Accommodation begins work next Tuesday

  • LEG-Foundation provides 500,000 euros for furnishings

We are shocked by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. We are deeply saddened by the suffering of the Ukrainian people. As a large owner of apartments in Germany, we consider it our duty to help Ukrainians who seek protection in our country. Building on past experience, we would like to coordinate our support for Ukrainian refugees with local communities for coordinated action. The following measures are planned:

A safe house

We are in the process of informing all municipalities, where LEG has a large number of apartments, about the establishment of a LEG coordination center to organize apartments for refugees. The coordination center will start operating early next week.

Initial furnishing for the new house

The LEG foundation “Votre aide à domicile” has set up an emergency aid fund of 500,000 euros initially to finance the initial fitting out of the apartments.

Cooperation with other partners

In places where LEG and the LEG Foundations cannot help directly, we will cooperate with our partners in the charitable sector, with associations and communities with which the company also works on other occasions.

Perspectives for refugees

In the future, we would also like to offer training and employment to Ukrainian refugees.

“The war in Europe and the suffering of the Ukrainian people affects us deeply. We would like to help people who have fled Ukraine with what we do best: providing a safe and secure apartment – in coordination with local authorities. We support our tenants who have Ukrainian roots, but we are also thinking of Russian families affected by Putin’s war,” says Lars von Lackum, CEO of LEG Immobilien SE.
