News from Labor Shramik Card Registration: e-SHRAM was developed for the general welfare of crores of unorganized workers in the country. To extend the benefits to non-union workers nationwide, the e-SHRAM portal will be seeded with their Aadhaar cards.

The Labor Shramik card will contain details of name, occupation, address, degree, skill types and family details etc. for the optimal achievement of their employability and extend the benefits of social security schemes to them. It is the very first national database of unorganized workers including migrant workers, construction workers, concert and platform workers and others.

“In the event of a national crisis like COVID-19, financial assistance via the direct transfer of benefits (DBT) will be transferred directly to the bank account of the unorganized worker, registered on the e-SHRAM portal,” tweeted EPFO .

All registered non-union workers will have accident insurance coverage through Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) for one year. It will also be useful for state and central governments to provide assistance to eligible UWs in the event of a pandemic / calamity. Registration has already started on August 26th.

Benefits of the work Shramik card

The e-SHRAM card will be acceptable nationwide. After registering, the worker is entitled to get accident and permanent disability insurance coverage of 2 Lakh and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability under PMSBY. In the future, all social security benefits for non-union workers will be provided through this portal. In emergency and national pandemic situations, this database can be used to provide the necessary assistance to eligible unorganized workers.

Construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors, domestic workers, dairy workers, truck drivers, fishermen, agricultural workers and other similar workers will be covered by the e-Shram portal. Over 38 crore of unorganized workers will be registered on the eSHRAM portal.

This system is designed to save 38 crores of unorganized workers. “This will not only allow them to be registered, but would also be useful for the implementation of various social security schemes implemented by central and state governments,” said the Minister of Labor.

Registration process for the Shramik Labor Card

1. To register the e-SHRAM portal, log into the official website at

2. Click on the ‘Register on e-SHRAM’ link on the home page.

3. Enter the cell phone number and captcha code related to Aadhaar and click send OTP.

4. Follow the instructions below to complete the registration process.

Please note that if a worker does not have a cell phone number linked to Aadhaar, then they can go to the nearest CSC and register through biometric authentication.

Workers must have Aadhaar number, Aadhaar linked cell phone number and bank account number to register for e-SHRAM portal.
