GOVERNOR Dennis “Delta” Pineda assured Wednesday that students, through the Capitol’s Education Funding Assistance Program (EFAP), will continue to receive their financial assistance during his second term.
“We apologize if the assistance was a bit late due to the recent elections. But this time, I assure you that you will continue to receive from the program as long as you commit to completing your studies,” Pineda told the 1,255 scholarship students from different cities in the Second District who attended the financial aid distribution. Wednesday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
Pineda said the program will continue as long as public funds allow. Each EFAP scholarship holder receives 4,000 pesos per semester. Pineda said the only requirement was for students to continue their studies.
Some 103,747 Kapampangan students benefited from the governor’s 342 million peso EFAP. Of the 103,747 scholarship recipients, 52,789 are college students and 49,383 are 12th graders. Grade 12 beneficiaries received some P57,515,000 for the 2021 to 2022 school year.
From 2020 to 2021, the provincial government distributed P24,733,000 and P23,283,000 for the first and second semesters, respectively, to Efap beneficiaries of the college.
The provincial government had also provided financial aid of P6,184,000 to Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners for 2021. The total aid given to ALS learners in the last three years of Pineda’s tenure reached 9,330,000P.
The Efap provides financial assistance to indigent students to help them defray school-related expenses. The program covers middle and high school students.
The governor added that apart from EFAP, the provincial government is helping out-of-school youth and other disadvantaged Kapampangans to get a good education through the alternative learning system.
