2023: I am building a strong financial system, supporting Buhari, says Emefiele
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has said he will support the regime of President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret’d) to finish strong.
Emefiele revealed this in a series of tweets on Monday, as he responded to rumors of his supposed presidential bid in 2023, saying he was focused on strengthening the country’s economy.
He tweeted: “My focus right now is robust monetary policy and tackling inflation, which is now a global issue; building a strong financial system in an increasingly uncertain global economy; development funding and support for farmers and manufacturers in our drive for self-sufficiency and import substitution; raise N15tn for the financing of InfraCo infrastructure; the construction of a world-class international financial center in Lagos; as we support the Muhammadu Buhari administration to end strong.
Several groups and individuals have called on Emefiele to stand for election in 2023. The peak of demand came at the Eagles Square convention ground of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja on Saturday, when hundreds of young people across the country stormed the room in the CBN Governor’s signature attire.
